The Calling Of Abram. Abram And Sarai Lied To Pharaoh

Terah was 70 years old when he had three sons ... Abram, Nahor and Haran.

Haran then had a son called Lot.  Haran died young and Abram and Nahor took his wifes as their own to take care of their brother's family.

Sarai then became Abram's wife and Milcah became Nahor's wife.

Terah was so heartbroken by the death of his son that he took the whole family and moved them to Haran, a dwelling in Canaan, and they lived there until Terah died.

And The Lord called on Abram to move away from his home in Haran ... and to go to a land that The Lord would show him.

And The Lord made a bond with Abram: 'And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great.  I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you.'

So Abram departed from Haran, as The Lord told him to, and he was 75 years old.

He took his wife Sarai, his brother's son Lot and all their possessions, as well as all their slaves, and went to Canaan ... the land that God chose for him.

They travelled through the land of Canaan, until they reached a place called Sichem, and they settled in the plain of Moreh.

Then God appear to Abram and said to him: 'I give all of this land to your bloodline.'  Abram immediately built an altar to honor the appearance of God.

They then tavelled further until they reached a place between Beth-El and Hai where Abram built another altar for God.

They then travelled further east from Bet-El until they've reached a place called the Southlands, but famine was all over the country.

So Abram travelled further until they've reached Egypt.

Before they entered Egypt Abram turned to Sarai and asked her to tell the Egyptians that she was his sister.

He explained that they would kill him without thinking twice if they witness her beauty and they knew he was her husband.

Sarai agreed and it wasn't long before her beauty was on everybody's lips.  It even reached the court of the Pharaoh.

She was invited to the palace to stay there.  The Pharaoh treated Abram also well for her sake.  He gave Abram sheep, oxen, servants and camels.

This arrangement didn't sit well with The Lord.  So He plaqued the Pharaoh and his house because Sarai was living with them.

Pharao then called Abram and got the truth out of him.

The Pharaoh was very angry when he found out how they schemed the whole thing.  Fear of God's Wrath won the battle and he ordered Abram, with his family and possessions out of Egypt.

And so went Abram and his family south, back to Beth-El where he had built the altar for God.

And Abram and Lot were rich.  They had so much possessions, including cattle and servants, that tension was beginning to built between the two camps.

So Abram compromised with Lot ... if Lot took the left side of the land, Abram would take the right side, and vice versa.  Lot agreed and he chose the luscious plains of Jordan, and Abram dwelled in Canaan.

He eventually travelled to Hebron and dwelled there in the plain of Mamre, where he built another altar for The Lord... and God gave him all the land as far as he can walk.
