The Tower Of Babel

At that time, all the people spoke only one language, and understood each other perfectly.  They all, as a group, journeyed from the east until they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelled there.  They spoke to each other and decided that it was the perfect place to built a city of stone ... with a tower ... a tower so high that it might reach into heaven.  They wanted to make a name for themselves [like a nation] so that they won't be scattered around the world.

The Lord heard about the venture and came down to Earth to see what they were doing. He was astonished for a moment at their plans and what they had thought and figured out already.  'Oh no, they don't!' He thought 'There will be nothing that can stop them now, because they all work as a singular organism in one universal language.   Let Us go down and confuse them with multiple languages so that they would not understand each other, and put a stop to this.'

So the Lord scattered them across the whole earth and stopped the building of Babel by making it impossible for them to understand each other.

It was called Babel because it was the place where The Lord confused the one language of the earth with multiple languages.

The Golden Bloodline continued with Shem, the son of Noah:

1.  Shem was 100 years old when Arphaxad was born [two years after The Flood].  Shem was 500 years old when he died.

2.  Arphaxad was 35 years old when Salah was born.  Arphaxad was 403 years old when he died.

3.  Salah was 30 years old when Eber was born.  Salah was 403 years old when he died.

4.  Eber was 34 years old when  Peleg was born.  Eber was 430 years old when he died.

5.  Peleg was 30 years old when Reu was born.  Peleg was 209 years old when he died.

6.  Reu was 32 years old when Serug was born.  Reu was 207 years old when he died.

7.  Serug was 30 years old when Nahor was born.  Serug was 200 years old when he died.

8.  Nahor was 29 years old when Terah was born.  Nahor was 190 years old when he died.

9.  Terah was 70 years old when he had three sons ... Abram, Nahor and Haran. Terah died when he was 205 years old.

Haran then had a son called Lot.  Haran died young and Abram and Nahor took his wifes as their own to take care of their brother's family.

The family move from Ur to Harad

Sarai then became Abram's wife and Milcah became Nahor's wife.

Terah was so heartbroken by the death of his son that he took the whole family and moved them from Ur to Haran, a dwelling in Canaan, and they lived there until Terah died.
